Art On İstanbul presents “Nothing Left Unbroken” from November 4 to December 12,
2026.
Focusing on rupture, transformation, faith, and perfection, the exhibition explores the
questioning of familiar meanings and values long considered immutable. Borrowing its title from a poem of the same name by Özdemir Asaf, the exhibition approaches rupture not merely as destruction or loss, but as a threshold from which the possibility of a new beginning may emerge.
Through a visual language that ranges from everyday objects to Christian iconography, the artist examines how concepts such as sanctity, innocence, and perfection are constructed, inviting viewers to reconsider their relationship with the values they deem worthy of preservation.
All works in the series employ the trompe-l’œil technique, blurring the boundaries between
reality and illusion. Surfaces that initially appear to depict actual objects encourage viewers
to reconsider what they see and the meanings they assign to it. Through motifs of veils,
cracks, and fractures, the exhibition explores the relationship between visibility and
concealment, revealing the assumptions underlying seemingly intact wholes. Rather than focusing on destruction itself, “Nothing Remains Unbroken” considers the possibility of establishing new meanings and relationships in its aftermath. By questioning what deserves to be preserved, and why, the exhibition opens up a space for contemplating the possibility of a different kind of wholeness.
