Ömer Emre Yavuz (b. 1972) is a sculptor and academic based in Istanbul. He holds a BA in Sculpture from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (1996) and an MA from Marmara University (1999). Since 2001, he has been a faculty member at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University’s Sculpture Department, where he has been an associate professor since 2009.
Yavuz’s work explores themes of power, violence, and identity, often using scrap materials to create expressive figurative forms. His practice emphasizes the relationship between materiality, process, and meaning, inviting viewers to reconsider the symbolic and functional dimensions of objects in contemporary life.
