Enis Malik Duran (b. 1984) is an Istanbul-based artist whose practice centers on the contradictions and dilemmas of the human–nature relationship from a post-humanist perspective. His work often frames the anomalous position of humanity within nature through landscapes, focusing on traces of civilization left behind after human interventions. Exploring themes such as meta-geography, politicized topographies, and images constructed as metaphors of power and culture, Duran challenges anthropocentric approaches. Working across different media, he creates strong atmospheric narratives that support the conceptual framework of his practice, with the construction of atmosphere playing a defining role in his painting. Through this approach, he seeks to evoke a contemporary sensibility toward the age we inhabit. Duran continues his artistic practice in his Istanbul studio while pursuing an academic career.
