Chinese artist Han Yajuan, whose works explore popular culture, money, and consumer frenzy, will meet Istanbul audiences with her solo exhibition “From China with Love” at art ON Istanbul, opening on November 22. The central theme of the exhibition, highlighted on imaginary abstract spaces constructed through black-and-white contrasts, is one of women’s essentials: FASHION.
Han Yajuan, originally from the People’s Republic of China, finally arrives in Istanbul. Her first solo exhibition in the city, “From China with Love”, will be on view from November 22 – December 22 at art ON Istanbul.
Creating abstract spaces on large-scale white canvases and placing women at the forefront, Han Yajuan addresses topics such as popular culture, money, and consumer frenzy. Beyond portraying female figures as merely cute, she emphasizes women as independent, self-confident, and materialistically aware individuals. This duality is underscored through the contrast of black-and-white color usage.
In addition to her paintings, Han Yajuan’s bronze sculptures feature precious stones, drawing attention once again to the omnipresence of consumerism in every sphere.
Han Yajuan’s canvases and sculptures can be viewed at art ON Istanbul from November 22 – December 22. The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday, and on weekends, Saturday from 11:00 to 19:00.
