With his second solo exhibition “Hunger”, Hüseyin Aksoylu examines the dynamics and causalities underlying humanity’s adaptation to nature and social order. The artist explores this long-standing question of human existence through a variety of media, including canvas, video, sculpture, and computer-generated imagery.
Focusing on the tension between humans’ innate instincts and the cognitive systems developed over time, Aksoylu observes the ongoing balance between conforming to human-created systems of value and listening to internal impulses. In this mechanism of conflict—where reasoning, common sense, and collective wisdom can suppress instinct to the point of inaction—humans inevitably return to fundamental instincts to survive. The exhibition’s title, “Hunger”, emphasizes not only this essential survival drive but also the deeper longing to reconnect with our inherent potential.
