Sculptor İskender Yediler, who works in Berlin, opens his first solo exhibition in Turkey at Art On İstanbul with his recent works that explore the tropical world. Titled Suibriğigiller / Nepenthes, the exhibition features Yediler’s yellow copper and aluminum sculptures, presented for the first time, alongside wall panels created using the traditional İznik tile technique and paper works. Named after carnivorous tropical plants, the exhibition presents abstract forms found in nature, reimagined into new coherent meanings, with striking attention to detail.

Yediler, whose works are included in major international museums and collections, interprets the “cannibal plant world” with vivid colors and a strong dose of dark humor. The pieces reinterpret rare tropical plants in bold forms and color harmonies, engaging viewers both intellectually and playfully. Inspired by his travels across East Asia—particularly Bangkok, Hanoi, and Angkor Wat—Yediler’s works in this exhibition also reflect cultural, social, and political references drawn from these experiences.
