Art ON the Gallery will host two separate exhibitions by two artists in a single space starting from November 2. Despite the visual and conceptual parallels in their works, Ilgın Seymen and Nejat Satı create their own personal areas within the exhibition space, allowing art lovers to enjoy the experience of visiting two solo exhibitions within one gallery.
In both exhibitions, the artists transform the gallery space from a mere exhibition platform into an interactive play area, where everyday commodities—now essential parts of our daily lives—appear in unexpected and unconventional arrangements.
Ilgın Seymen, in her “Mini Market of Happiness”, critiques lifestyles that claim individuality yet ignore the individual, interpreting consumer society through visual elements from mass culture. She combines potentially unsettling critique with objects considered “pleasurable and gratifying,” producing works that initially evoke happiness but ultimately carry a sharp critique aimed at all of us.
Nejat Satı, drawing from his own experiences, experiments with paint and color in ways that depart from the traditional, transforming the exhibition space into a platform where viewers can integrate their own experiences while encountering a completely unconventional setting. His installation, “DRUGSTORE”, makes the audience an integral part of the exhibition, demonstrating that the completion of the artworks relies not only on the artist’s skill and effort but also on the undeniable contribution of the viewers.
Ilgın Seymen’s “Mini Market of Happiness” and Nejat Satı’s “DRUGSTORE” can be visited at Art ON the Gallery from November 2 to December 20.
Art ON the Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday on weekdays and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
