With his first personal exhibition, “An Ordinary Day”, Olcay Kuş will meet art lovers at art ON the Gallery.
In his works, Kuş perpetuates street walls—those we pass every day but rarely notice—capturing their constant transformations. In this debut exhibition, the artist offers viewers the sensation of walking in the street rather than visiting a conventional gallery. He achieves this not only through his spatial arrangements but also by using materials such as graffiti, posters, and spray paint on canvas.
In “An Ordinary Day”, Kuş aims to evoke the sense of a wall rather than a painting by reflecting the collective consciousness expressed through graffiti, posters, spray paints, and stencil templates. With their limitless scale, his works intersect his personal experiences with this collective public awareness. Another striking aspect of Kuş’s work is how the “ordinary” figures of everyday life become metaphors for the hustle and bustle of urban existence. Through repetition on canvas, the artist transforms familiar figures into thought-provoking representations. Meanwhile, the use of newspapers—subtle yet present as a foundational layer—further connects the works to the viewer’s daily life.
In his first personal exhibition, “An Ordinary Day”, Olcay Kuş demonstrates how the mundane elements of our lives can be transformed into something exceptional. The exhibition is on view at art ON the Gallery from 23 December to 23 January.
art ON the Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday, and on Saturdays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
