From China With Love | Han Yajuan
22.11.2012 / 22.12.2012 | Press Relase
The Chinese artist Han Yajuan, who focuses on popular culture, parties and the consumption frenzy in her works, will be in Istanbul with her first solo exhibition “From China With Love” at Art On Istanbul between November 22nd and December 22nd, 2012.
In her nonexistent abstract spaces that are build on the basis of the contrast between white and black, Han Yajuan drives forward the theme that is a sine qua non for women: Fashion. Creating abstract spaces on large-scale white canvases and driving forward women as figures, the artist touches on subjects such as popular culture, parties and consumption frenzy. Beyond portraying women as cute; she draws attention to the figure of educated, calm, self-sustained and materialistic women. In order to highlight this contradiction she makes use of the contrast between black and white. Along with her canvas works, the precious stones she uses on her bronze statues calls attention to the consumption frenzy commonly seen in everyday life.
The artist’s first solo exhibition “From China with Love” can be visited and his canvas works and statues can be viewed at Art On Istanbul between November 22nd and December 22nd, 2012.
